Vandre Schnee (ヴァンドゥル・シュネー, Vandouru Shunē?) was a character who appears both in the main Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest series as a minor character, and in the spin-off Arifureta Zero series as one of the main protagonists.
He was one of leaders of the Liberators and was the creator of the Schnee Labyrinth I the Schnee Snow Fields.
Appearance[]
Vandre was a young man in his 20's with a well-toned physique. Like all demons, he had pointed ears, swarthy red skin and red eyes. But unlike most demons, his hair was sky blue and it was braided on one side, but falls over his right eye in bangs.
Thanks to his dragonmen heritage, Vandre could transform into a large dragon. When Vandre fully mastered the use of his metamorphosis magic, and altered his dragon form, he was roughly two-meters tall, and still stood on his hind legs.
Vandre's attire consisted of white pants, a white muscle shirt, and a white muffler with a flower pattern sown into it, although he had a variety of mufflers with different designs.
Personality[]
During his childhood, Vandre considered his birth to be a curse. This was not only due to the fact that he was born as a result of his mother being raped by his father, but also because his father forced him to use his Ancient Magic to create an army of monsters that killed so many people. This later changed, however, after his mother taught him the creed of the dragonmen, and that he should live for others so that they may live for him.
While putting up a brave and arrogant front around most people, Vandre easily got flustered or shy when people complimented him. It was then he would pull up his muffler over his mouth to avoid the subject.
While in battle, Vandre was merciless toward his enemies.
Vandre believed that the world will always be full of evil, regardless of the gods' intervention in it. Even so, he was still willing to fight to make it a better place.

The true power of this magic is the ability to manipulate any organic material. Meaning not only animals, but it's also possible to remake plants or intelligent beings, and reform their structure as needed. Even byproducts of organic material, like paper or food, can also be manipulated by this magic. The magic stone which gets created during the process is just a byproduct of the process.

Among the abilities it possesses through the various magic circles engraved on it, is effective against ice magic. It also serves as a focal point for the artifact "Monster House." It was originally created by Vandre's fellow Liberator Oscar Orcus, due to their intense rivalry.
- Monster House - A domain-creating artifact which consist of trap the enemies in a spatial magic barrier filled with spatial distortions that swallow everything. Essentially, Oscar had created a type of Treasure Trove with the greatsword Dragon Slayer as its locus. Vandre filled the space inside that Treasure Trove with tens of thousands of his monsters, which the enemies now need to fight. It have a limit of how much targets it can accept at once, though still is able to swallow a few hundreds enemies in one go.

If you are found worthy, it is your sacred duty to destroy all glasses!" due to Oscar's obsession with glasses.[1]
- Obsidian Spectacles - An artifact that had various spells and features enchanted into it, ranging from Heat Vision, Night Vision, Mana Tracking, Magnification, Flash Bang, Farsight, Sense Magic, Soul Sight, heightened perception and immunity to dark magic. After Lyutillis had mastered her evolution magic, Oscar added the ability to analyze all information to the glasses with her help. Furthermore, Oscar would enchant the frames into a storage device to absorb sunlight and heat and fire them as a type of destructive laser (called "Super Glasses Beam"). The laser could only be used once per day, but since it didn't rely on magic, it had the benefit that it could not be nullified with magic and anti-magic measures.
- Metal Slime Batlam - An artifact made to mimic Vandre's Bachulum familiar Batlam, but instead of being made of slime, it was made with a strong metal liquid. It was a fusion of creation and metamorphosis magic. It would automatically defend the user from any incoming attacks and it could also be controlled by the wielder to attack or shape-shift to whatever form. However, the stronger the attacks were, or the more frequent the attacks were, the more metal liquid will be used up, which would deplete its liquid metal reserves.
- Summoning Circle - It created a three-meter wide gate that sucked everyone nearby into it, teleporting the user to a specified location within a few kilometers. It looked like a small, transparent glass bead, and could only be used once.
- Mini-Enchanted Blades - A series of small blades embedded in Vandre's dragon scales. They possess the same abilities as Oscar's blades, as well as the ability to cut through mana.

Quotes[]
- (To Miledi, Oscar, Naiz & Meiru): "I’m Vandre Schnee. Rejoice, ya bastards. I’m offering to pledge my ancient magic to your cause."[2]
- (To Miledi): "Don’t be stupid. My clan is my greatest asset, but also my biggest weakness. It’s thanks to them that I can talk to you guys like this through Batlam, and it’s thanks to them that I’m able to still affect things across the continent. If they came to save me and got captured too... we’d be done for. Also, the next time you call me Van-chan, I’m throwing you off."[2]
- (To Miledi, Oscar, Naiz & Meiru): "Anyway, I didn’t save your comrades out of compassion. I saved them so you’d save me. If you help me with my plans, not only will you get your comrades back, but you’ll be able to get me into your ranks too. Not a bad deal, right?"[2]
- (To Miledi): "The passage of time... truly is a cruel thing."[2]
- (To Miledi): "How can I trust you when even the person I trusted most in this world turned on me?"[2]
- (To Oscar): "Poor fool, you don’t even realize the aesthetic value of a muffler. I guess I shouldn’t have expected any better from a second-rate moron."[2]
- (To Oscar): "Don’t insult my muffler. You just have no appreciation for art, you perverted four-eyes."[2]
- (To Rasul): "Yeah, you look like the brother I know. The brother... I remember."[2]
- (To Rasul): "Alright, Brother. I’ll go for now. You better take care of this country, my homeland, for me."[2]
- (To Oscar): "Hmph. I always knew you were as much of a pedophile as Naiz, four-eyes."[3]
- (To Meiru): "Hey, Meiru. Don’t decide our nicknames based on how entertaining they are to you!"[3]
- (To Oscar): "Even without Miledi, the Liberators won’t falter."[4]
- (To Ajeen): "Have you ever tasted dragonbreath?"[4]
- (To Sui): "I can’t believe you..."[4]
- (To Rasul): "All I ask is that you wait here for our bells of revolution to toll across the land."[4]
- (To Mulm): "Now then, I’m tired of seeing your ugly mug. Let’s see whether my wyverns or your dragons are stronger. I missed my chance to finish your measly beasts off in the last war, so this is as good a time as any to finish the job."[5]
- (To Grice & Nieshika): "I’ll be going, but I promise I’ll return to you...with the rest of my family. See you soon...grandfather, grandmother."[5]
- (To Ehit): "We’re putting an end to your twisted game!"[5]
- (His last words to Miledi): "You’re more charming when you’re being annoying. Never forget that."[5]
Trivia[]
- Schnee means "snow" in German.
- Vandre was into mufflers, like Oscar is with his glasses, believing they are the greatest things in the world.
- Vandre was the first known person to approach the Liberators of his own accord, instead of being recruited by them.
- According to Vandre, due to his job "Artist," martial arts falls under the category of art and enables him to master various combat techniques, much to the other Liberators' bewilderment.

- Vandre's labyrinth is currently the one with the most people known to have successfully cleared it.
- Proof of conquering Vandre's labyrinth is a teardrop-shaped crystal pendant that is engraved with his crest.
- There is an inconsistency regarding the color of Vandre's dragon scales. In Volume 3 of the Zero Light Novels, Vandre was first described as having sky blue scales in his dragon form, while in Volume 4, he was described as having scarlet red scales, and in Volume 6, his scales were described as being moonlight silver.
- It was originally hinted that Vandre created of the constant blizzard in the Schnee Snow Fields,[6] until it was retconned that the death of the spirit Foldia caused it.[7]
