Valf Rugal (ヴァルフ・ルーガル, Vuarufu Rūgaru?) was the Commander of the Haltina Republic's commando unit during the age of the Liberators.

Appearance[]

Valf was an adult man with rugged good looks, long grey hair and an unkempt beard. As a wolfman, he had wolf ears and a tail.

Personality[]

Valf was fiercely devoted to protecting the Haltina Republic. He identified more strongly with his homeland than most beastmen. However, this was because he loved his comrades and his country more than anything. Furthermore, he also shared his fellow beastman's prejudiced towards humans due to their history of discriminating beastman. However, he would become more tolerant towards them after the republic had allied with the Liberators during their war agains the Holy Church.

Background[]

When Valf was a regular soldier, he was part of a squad of beastmen that had fought against the half-wolfman Shushu Corthea, who had been captured by the Holy Church and brainwashed into leading them to the republic. However, the church failed in the goal, and Shushu had been exiled from the republic, as a result. At some point, Valf was promoted to the general in charge of the republic's commando forces.

Chronology[]

Relationships[]

Lyutillis Haltina[]

Like all beastmen, Valf was fiercely loyal to Lyutillis. He was very devoted to his duty of protecting her as her personal guard.

Shushu Corthea[]

Valf was among the beastmen that had fought against Shushu while she was under the church's control. He felt incredibly guilty for having been forced to exile her from her homeland. When Shushu's lingering resentment enabled Ehit to brainwashing her into attacking the republic once more, Valf risked his life by attempting to free her mind and make up for failing to save her before.

Meiru Melusine[]

Initially Valf saw Meiru as a fellow beastman, but considered her to be inferior due to his pre-conceived notion that dagons were physically weaker than other beastman. However, after his crushing defeat during his duel with Meiru, he'd been completely devoted and subservient to her, and would often beg for Meiru's attention. When she was cruel to him, he got depressed, and when she was nice to him, he started wagging his tail back and forth.

Miledi Reisen[]

Valf was jealous of Miledi due to her being able to mend the wounds in Shushu's heart that he and his comrades caused when they fought against her.
