The Lake Town of Ur (湖畔（こはん）の町（まち）ウル, Kohan no Machi Uru^?) is a town in the world of Tortus.

Layout

Ur is a lakeside town that is under the domain of the Heiligh Kingdom and rested at the northeastern edge of its border. It is abundant it natural resources, such as having many fields for cultivating its specialty foods. It is just west to Urdea Lake (also called "Ur" Lake), which is Tortus' largest lake. Just north of it is the Northern Mountain Range that is full of various monsters. A newer feature of Ur is its four meter-tall stone boarder that was created by Hajime Nagumo before fighting against Yukitoshi Shimizu's army of 60,000 monsters. It is later christened "The Goddess' Shield" and has been stylized with many carvings and paintings.

Deep below Urdea Lake is a hidden ruin that once held the scythe artifact "Egxess".

History

Ur was built where the Uldia Dukedom existed during the age of the Liberators. At some point in time, a pair of water sprites from Urdea Lake visited one of its inns (they were in reality Seaman monsters), which later changed its name to "Water Sprite Inn," and eventually became the town's most famous inn.

The first ruler of the Hoelscher Empire traveled to Ur in order to investigate the rumours of Urdea Lake containing a mysterious power, and wished to claim it for himself. He discovered the hidden ruin at the bottom of the lake that contained the artifact "Egxess", to which he took.

Approximately 300 years later, when the Heroes of Earth were summoned to Tortus, Aiko Hatayama visited Ur with several of her students in order to help with its agriculture due to her Job as "Farmer". One of her students, Yukitoshi Shimizu, left Ur without a trace. Soon after he disappeared, an increase in Monster activity in the northern mountains made it more difficult for Ur's townspeople to collect spices and other ingredients for their food. They requested the aid from the Adventurer's Guild to investigate, but the party that was sent to the mountains never returned. Hajime Nagumo then visited Ur as he was traveling to the northern mountains in order to find out what happened to the missing adventurers. He unexpectedly reunited with Aiko and his old classmates at the Water Sprite Inn. All of them traveled to the mountains the next day and discovered that all but one of the adventurers were killed by a dragon. It was later revealed that an army of over 60,000 monsters was headed straight for Ur. Hajime and his companions managed to defeat the army and capture its leader, who turned out to be Yukitoshi Shimizu.

Stories of Hajime's victory spread from Ur, and it lead to Aiko being labeled the "Goddess of Victory" and Hajime as her "sword." As a result, Ur experienced a growth in tourism. This would not last too long, however, as Ur was soon plagued with mysterious rain that did not cease. Furthermore, many of the townsfolk had disappeared without a trace. After a month of non-stop rain, Ur was one again visited by Hajime and his companions, as well as the Hero Kouki Amanogawa, several members of his party, and Princess Liliana S. B. Heiligh, as they were on their way to the Hoelscher Empire. After spending a night at the Water Sprite Inn, several members of their group had suddenly lost their memories. Hajime and the others investigated this, and soon discovered that this, as well as the mysterious rain, was caused by the accidental activation of an ancient ruin that resided deep in the Northern Mountains. It was partially absorbing the souls of all those nearby that had any combat potential, thus causing them to lose their memories in the process, and were used to empower various golems that guarded it. Hajime and his companions managed to destroy the golems and the ruin, thus restoring everyone's memories, as well as end the nonstop rain over Ur.

After Hajime returned to Earth, he brought his family, including the families of his wives, back to Tortus for a holiday vacation, which included a stop at Ur. When they arrived at Ur, they met up with Pope Simon Levellair of the Holy Church while he was touring Tortus. Hajime showed his family and the people of Ur the battle that took place against the army of monsters by using restoration magic to show a past projection of the event. He followed up with a concert that was performed by Aiko, Liliana, and Myu in order to help calm everyone down after witnessing such a bloody battle.
