Sharm Barn (シャルム・バーン, Sharumu Bān?) was the youngest son of the Liberator Laus Barn. He was also the founder of the Heiligh Kingdom.
Appearance[]
Sharm was a young boy with glossy gray hair, and intelligent eyes.
As he reached adulthood, Sharm grew to be very handsome.
Personality[]
Sharm was a very curious boy who was not afraid to ask questions that many would consider to be heretical. He had not been brainwashed by the Holy Church's doctrine of humans being a superior race, and instead wished for peace among all of the races of Tortus.
Background[]
Sharm was the third son born to the influential Barn family in the Elbard Theocracy. By the time he was eight years old, his two older brothers were already inducted in the the Holy Church that ruled the Theocracy (as well as most human nations).
Chronology[]
One evening, Sharm cheerfully greeted his father Laus as he was coming home after performing his duties as the church's Templar Knights Commander. As Sharm's family was having dinner, his parents were debating on Laus's refusal to have another wife in order to give birth to more children that would serve the church and its god Ehit. Sharm attempted to diffuses the tension by brining up another topic, but was stopped by his grandmother Debra. Laus, however encouraged his son to speak up and the two discussed about Sharm's lessons from school. During the conversation, Sharm asked his father if certain demons were actually being good people in spite of the church teaching its followers that they were the enemies of their god. This immediately shocked Sharm's family, and while Ricolis was angered at Sharm, Laus encouraged his son to speak up by asking what encouraged him to ask such a question. Sharm explained that he hoped that the demons were good so that both they and humans would not have to fight each other after years of constant warfare until the rise of the current Demon Lord. Laus got angered after hearing this rational, but was not upset because of his son's way of thinking; rather it was having come to the realization that Ehit had always orchestrated the ongoing wars between the humans and demons. This display of anger scared Sharm and the rest of his family, but Laus came back to his senses and assured his son that he was not mad at him. He even went further as to agree with Sharm's wish that the Demon Lord was a good person.
When Laus was chosen by the church to lead an important mission to capture a beastman from the Haltina Republic who possessed Ancient Magic, his family threw him a celebratory dinner the night before his departure. During their meal, having realized the tension he caused from his previous dinner conversation with Laus, Sharm hesitantly asked his father if it was a sin to befriend beastmen, despite it being decreed so by the church. This quickly prompted his mother to lash out at him, but Laus stopped her before she could hit him. Laus then asked Sharm his reason for asking that question, to which Sharm responded by believing that it would be better to work alongside them instead of fighting with them in order to forcibly take one away from their home because they possessed Ancient Magic. Laus reasoned that he was following Ehit's will in order to bring about the happiness for as many people as possible. Sharm, however, was unconvinced at how much his family actually believed those words and instead expressed his belief that Laus should instead aid that beastman so that everyone could be happy. After Laus left for his mission to the Haltina Republic, Sharm and his family visited the Holy Church's main cathedral everyday to pray for his safety.
When Laus returned from his mission, he intended to take Sharm as the rest of their family away in order to join the Liberators after they managed to defeat the Holy Church during their war with the beastmen. Unfortunately, Sharm was detained by the church and subjected to Ehit's brainwashing magic. Despite this, however, Sharm managed to resist and did not submit to Ehit's will. When Laus arrived at the church, he saw his son being dragged out in a severely injured state by a pair of knights, while also be accompanied by his two older brothers, Kaime and Selm, his mother and grandmother. All of them expressed their disappointment in Sharm for his unwillingness to conform to Ehit's will, and was even beaten further by his mother. Laus was ordered by Ehit's apostle Hearst to use his spirit magic to brainwash Sharm into worshipping Ehit. She then grabbed Sharm by his hair and used her own magic on him in order to demonstrate his ability to resist it to Laus. Sharm desperately resisted Hearst's magic, while begging his father to save him. This prompted Laus to immediately attack Hearst and the knights in order to rescue his son. Laus then healed him with his magic and handed him off to his attendant that had accompanied him, Reinheit Ashe, so that the two of them could escape while he would engage church's forces. As they fled, Sharm begged Reinheit to go back to rescue his father, but Reinheit didn't want Laus' sacrifice to be in vain. Reinheit was then attacked by the Commander of the Holy Church's Paladins Darrion Kaus. After stabbing with with his Divine Spear artifact, Darrion offered to spare Reinheit if he handed over Sharm, but he refused out of his own desire to help those that were in need of help. Darrion effortlessly managed to severely injure Reinheit and proceeded to capture Sharm by grabbing the scruff of his shirt and headed back to the church. It was then that Reinheit managed to awaken a hidden power within him and prompted Darrion's other weapon, the Holy Sword, to approach him on its own. It managed to heal him, and gave him the strength to fight back against Darrion. The battle soon ended with both of them mortally wounding each other. As Reinheit laid dying, a distraught Sharm came running over to him in an attempt to save him. Reinheit used his remaining strength to tell Sharm to head out and find the person that had inspired Laus to stand up against the church, believing that they would be able to help the boy. Sharm had no idea how to find them, but Reinheit assured him that he would succeed because he was Laus' son. Hearing this gave Sharm the courage to venture out on his own and thanked Reinheit far all the he did for him. As he was about to leave, he was blocked by Darrion, who somehow still had enough life left in him to fight. As Darrion was prepared to kill both of them, Laus arrived at the last second ,after having escaped the church's forces at the cost of his left arm, and killed Darrio with a lethal punch in the face. Relived to see Laus alive, Sharm thugged his father, before Laus healed Reinheit. Before Sharm or Reinheit could say anything, Laus told them that they needed to hide from the church. Sharm then gave the Holy Sword to Rerineit, much to his father's surprise, and all three of them fled while Sharm and Laus were supporting Reinheit.

Laus Barn[]
Laus and Sharm loved each other very much. To Sharm, Laus was an invincible hero who loved him unconditionally. Laus' primary motivation for obeying the church was because he believed it to be the best thing to do in order to protect his son and the rest of their family.
Ricolis Barn[]
Ricolis often reprimanded her son for questioning the teachings that were imprinted upon them by the Holy Church. After Sharm and his father left the church, Ricolis denounced her son and regretted giving birth to him. She went so far as attempting to kill him in order to appease the church.
Kaime & Selm Barn[]
Initially, Sharm's two older brothers considered him to be an embarrassment to their family. However, after the two of them spent more time with him and Laus in the Dragon Kingdom. their relationship had improved considerably. When they were ordered to kill Sharm for the church after they invaded the Dragon Kingdom, the two brothers were willing to sacrifice themselves to save him, although they still referred to Sharm as their "idiot brother."
Reinheit Ashe[]
Sharm was good friends with Renheit, due to being the most amicable of all the Barn family's servants. Sharm would be chosen by Reinheit to take up the mantle of Hero after his death. Years later, Sharm would later name his daughter in honor of Reinheit.
Corrin[]
Sharm was instantly infatuated with Corrin upon their first encounter. He was always helping her with her chores in order to impress her. The two of them eventually got married and started a family.

- Enhanced Physical Abilities - After becoming the Hero of Tortus, Sharm had gained all around superhuman abilities.
- Enhanced Strength - Sharm possessed enhanced strength which was further enhanced by the power of his Holy Sword.
- Enhanced Speed - Sharm possessed enhanced speed.
- Enhanced Durability - Sharm had enhanced durability, giving him the ability to withstand some of the most powerful attacks.
- Enhanced Endurance - Sharm had an enhanced degree of endurance.
- Enhanced Senses - Sharm had enhanced senses.
- Expert Combatant - After the Liberators were defeated, Sharm spent years training in the hopes that he could carry on their legacy. Although he proved himself a capable fighter as an adult, he was incapable of surpassing his father Laus.
- Master Swordsman - Thanks to possessing the job of Hero, Sharm was incredibly skilled at swordsmanship.

- Immense Mana - As someone who possessesed the Hero job, Sharm had a large quantity of mana.
- Magic Master - Thanks to his job as a Hero, Sharm was very skilled in magic.

- Mana Manipulation - A skill to directly manipulate mana and use spells without the need of a magic circle or an incantation.
- Ultra Instinct - A skill that enables the user to determine the best course of action in any situation. It also makes them resistant to mind control.
- Limit Break - A skill to go over one's limits; amplifying their power by three times one's basic stats, but this power comes with a rebound - once used the user will be heavily fatigued. Using it for long periods of time will damage the user's body.
- Spatial Magic - One of the ancient magics originating from the "Age of Gods," which allows the user to manipulate the space around themselves, allowing them to either bend or expand the space near them or move themselves to another space or location. The true power of this magic is the ability to manipulate boundaries. It could be used to create entire dimensions, as well as manipulate the boundaries between fantasy and reality.

- Celestial Flash - An advance-rank light spell that unleashes a blade of light to destroy the enemy. It is so powerful that it can shatter through barriers of similar rank.
- Divine Wrath - The most powerful offensive light magic in existence that exemplified God's wrath and most powerful offensive spell in the world. It unleashes a bombardment of annihilating light to destroy the user's enemies. However, despite it's immense power, it has a long chant, which makes it difficult to use in battle.

- Holy Sword Uralt - A divine artifact which is a legendary weapon used by various heroes in the past. It is a unique artifact that possesses various abilities. The sword is blessed by the element of light and has the ability to weaken the enemies struck by its light while increasing the physical strength of the wielder. The sword can summoned to the user's hand and for some unknown reason, it also possess the ability to automatically return to its owner without their consent, when they move away from it for a certain distance or try to abandon it. It can change its shape into whatever type of sword its user wishes, for instance, changing from its western design into a katana. The sword is made of minerals near the root of the Great Tree. It contains the soul of the first avatar of the Great Tree.

- Sharm's family name "Barn" may have been named after Vearn from Dragon Quest, since they are spelled with the same Japanese characters.
- Sharm is the first known person to have successfully cleared one of the Great Labyrinths.
