Lua (ルア, Rua?) is one of the elders of Verbergen and is the leader of the foxmen tribe.
Appearance
Lua has neck-length white hair slit eyes. He has white fox ears that are red at the tips, and a tail.
Personality
Lua is perceptive and level-headed. When he first meets Hajime Nagumo, he does not let his prejudice of humans control his actions, as it does with some of the other elders.
Lua is a bit duplicitous, as evident when he attempts to spy on the Haulia Tribe.
Chronology
Lua and the other elders of Verbergen banished the Haulia Tribe for concealing the existence of the "cursed child" Shea due to her ability to manipulate mana.
When Verbergen's elder chief Ulfric Heipyst invited Hajime Nagumo, Yue and the Haulia Tribe in order to be allowed passage to the Great Labyrinth that resided in the Sea of Trees, Zel and the other elders immediately expressed their disapproval at allowing them to attend due to their prejudice against humans, as well as the Haulia Tribe having been exiled. After Hajime severely beat up the bearman elder Jin Vanton when the latter tried to attack the former, Lua was quick to acknowledge Hajime as someone who had successfully completed one of the labyrinths, thus earning their aid by Verbergen's laws. Ultimately, the elders decided to banish Hajime from Verbergen due to his refusal to part with the Haulia Tribe, who he had made a deal with to guide him to the labyrinth initially.
Months later, the demons were attacking Verbergen with an army of monsters that allowed them to navigate through the dense fog that surrounded their nation, as well as the Sea of Trees. As Lua and the other elders were debating on what to do, they learned from a Forman messenger that the demons' objective was to find the Labyrinth that resided within the forest. The demons were eventually defeated thanks to the Haulia Tribe. A while after the invasion, Hajime and his companions returned to Verbergen and managed to restore it thanks to Kaori Shirasaki.
Lua and the other elders were met by Emperor Gahard D. Hoelscher of the Hoelscher Empire met with them after the former was defeated in combat by the Haulia Tribe, and forced to free all of their beastman slaves. The meeting, however, was going nowhere due to the remaining hostilities that both sides had for each other. This prompted Hajime to teleport Gahard back to the empire before the hostilities could escalate into violence.
As Verbergen was recovering from the aftermath of the demon invasion, Lua was attempting to spy on the Haulia Tribe, but was caught by them. As punishment, Lua's fur was completely shaved off by Cam Haulia. This caused him to shut himself in his house.
