Kaime Barn (カイム・バーン, Kaimu Bān?) was the eldest son of the Liberator Laus Barn. Following His father's defection from the Holy Church, he and his younger brother Selm were tasked to kill him.

Appearance[]

Kaime was a young boy with blond hair that was parted on one side. After becoming an apostle hybrid, Kaime's hair had turned white.

Personality[]

Kaime presented himself a devout follower of the Holy Church and its teachings. He viewed anyone that goes against it as a heretic, including his own family.

Kaime was prideful to the point of acting arrogant. He had a short temper and was unable to resist responding whenever he was taunted.

After he and his brother Selm were liberated from the church by Laus, the two of them began to reconsider their faith, and decided to take their father's words to heart about living for their own sake, rather that living to serve their god Ehit.

Background[]

Kaime was the first son born to the influential Barn family in the Elbard Theocracy. As a child, he and his younger Selm were already inducted into the Holy Church.

Chronology[]

When Laus was preparing to escape the church with his family to join the Liberators, Kaime and the rest of their family were present when his youngest brother Sharm was being imprisoned and tortured by Ehit's apostle Hearst, in order to brainwash him into being one of their followers. Sharm, however, managed to resist Hearst's brainwashing magic, and escaped along with Laus and a guard working for the Barn family Reinheit Ashe.

After Laus' defection, both Kaime and Selm were among those tasked by the church to track down and kill him.

Relationships[]

Laus Barn[]

At first, Kaime despised his father after he abandoned the Holy Church. However, he would later come to love Laus once more after he and his brother Selm spent time together in the Dragon Kingdom. He took his father's words to heart about living for his own sake, and ultimately, died fighting for what he chose to believe in.

Sharm Barn[]

Kaime initially viewed his youngest brother as a failure and disgrace to the Barn family name. However, following he reconciliation with Laus, he and Selm would later sacrifice themselves to protect Sharm from the Holy Church's attack against the Liberators.

Ehit[]

Kaime was absolutely loyal to Ehit.

Trivia[]

  • Kaime may be named after the demon Caim from Ars Goetia. He is a great president of Hell and rules over thirty legions of demons. He is a good disputer, gives men the understanding of the voices of birds, bullocks, dogs, and other creatures, and of the noise of the waters too, and gives true answers concerning things to come. Furthermore, his family name "Barn" may have been named after Vearn from Dragon Quest, since they are spelled with the same Japanese characters.
