The Hydra (ヒュドラ, Hyudora?) is a monster that is the final boss of the Great Orcus Labyrinth.

Appearance[]

The Hydra was originally a three-headed dragon that was four meters long. When it was altered by Vandre Schnee, it gained four more heads. After having spent countless years confined within the Great Orcus Labyrinth, its body had severely atrophied to where it became the size of a human child.

The Hydra that spawns in the Great Orcus Labyrinth looks like a huge serpentine creature that is 30 meters long with a hard shell body and six-heads. Each of the heads of the Hydra are differently colored (in the Light Novel and Manga, each one had a different-colored pattern engraved into its head instead) and a pair of dark red eyes. Once all six heads were destroyed, a seventh silver head would appear.

Personality[]

Originally, the Hydra would act on its single-sided goal of fiercely protecting its treasure. It would try to kill anyone that tried to move it.

After being altered by Vandre, it became more intelligent.

Background[]

The Hydra was created during the age of gods to guard a powerful artifact known as "Ehit's Eyes."

Chronology[]

The Hydra and its treasure was discovered by the Holy Church during an excavation deep below the mines in the Kingdom of Velka. Bishop Forneus Abyssion wished to use the artifact for the church, but was unable move it due to the Hydra fiercely protecting it. As a result, Forneus had a dome built around the artifact to guard it.

Forneus and his Templar Knights would later be killed when Oscar, and later Miledi, confronted them, but the battle caused the dragon to awaken due to Miledi having moved the artifact with her gravity magic. It immediately shot a large fireball from one of its mouths, which killed Forneus' accomplice Ping Waress, who was attempting to kill Oscar. It then went on a rampage and flung boulders towards the cave's entrance, which also killed Ping's friends Torpa Parson and Raul Streya while they were fleeing, and followed up by attacking Miledi with its flame breath. Miledi eventually managed to defeat the dragon by unleashing a massive burst of gravity magic that had been amplified by Oscar's Divinity Stone, leaving nothing behind by a massive crater.

The Hydra, however, survived, and was lurking at the bottom of the crater. It would eventually be discovered by Oscar, Miledi and their allies, while they were constructing Oscar's labyrinth. It became a familiar of Vandre Schnee, who used his metamorphosis magic to alter its appearance, as well as give it sentience. It would serve as the basis for the monster that guarded the 100th floor of the labyrinth, while its real body was placed in suspended animation in a container within the labyrinth's core.
