Grid Half (グリッド・ハーフ, Guriddo Hāfu?) was the Captain of the Hoelscher Empire Imperial Guard's Third Squad. He also lead the squad of soldiers who hunted the Haulia Tribe after they fled their home in the Sea of Trees.
Appearance
Grid had a burly stature with cropped black hair and brown eyes. He had several scars across his face and various earrings.
Personality
Grid was arrogant and enjoyed tormenting his enemies. Despite this, Grid knew when to prioritize his duties as a soldier, but was cowardly when faced with danger.
Like all members of the Empire, Grid considered beastmen to be inferior.
Chronology
Grid's soldiers were responsible for attacking the Haulia Tribe rabbitmen and enslaving many of its members. He had spotted them outside their home in the Sea of Trees and attempted to capture most of them, while killing the weak and elderly members. He had personally been enamoured by Shea and desired to capture her in order to make her his personal sex slave. After chasing the Haulia Tribe to Reisen Gorge, all of Grid's men were killed by Hajime Nagumo (though Grid himself had not been present and was therefore spared).
When Hajime and his companions visited the empire in order to rescue members of the Haulia Tribe that had been captured, they were met by Grid upon arriving at the imperial palace in order to meet with the emperor. Grid immediately recognized Shea, who was traveling with Hajime, and asked her what happened to the soldiers under his command that attacked her family. Shea was initially shocked after realizing that Grid was the man responsible for the deaths of many of her tribesmen, but soon regained her composure and responded to Grid's question by feigning ignorance and insulting him as well. Grid was angered by Shea's curt response and attempted to intimidate her by trying to get the Hero Kouki Amanogawa to sell her to him (believing Shea was his slave), but was cut off by Hajime, who proceeded to insult him further and demanded that he take them to the emperor. Grid lost his temper and was almost about to attack Hajime, but he managed to calm down and ordered one of his subordinates to take their guests to their destination.
When the Haulia Tribe attacked the imperial palace during the engagement party between Prince Baius D. Hoelscher and Princess Liliana S. B. Heiligh of the Heiligh Kingdom, Grid had been assigned to guarding the royal treasury, but proceeded to reach the emperor in order to protect him after receiving an alarm. As Grid was headed to the ballroom with thirty soldiers, they were suddenly approached by Shea. Eager for revenge, Shea proclaimed that she would single-handedly stop the soldiers. Grid, however, dismissed Shea's claim and ordered his men to kill her, but Shea managed to kill them effortlessly. As his men were quickly being killed, Grid attempted to kill Shea with his sword, but she blocked it with her dress shoe. She then punched him, which followed up with a kick so hard that he slammed into the wall. Shea then proceeded to quickly kill the rest of Grid's men. Once they were all dead, Shea made her way over to Grid and grabbed by his breastplate. A terrified Grid begged Shea to spare him, and offered to reveal the location of the Haulia Tribe members that were captured during their first encounter. Shea, however, was not interested in what Grid had to say and proceeded to kill him by striking him so hard with her warhammer Drucken that he was sent flying out of the palace and into the sky, thus avenging her family members that he and his subordinates killed.
