Description[]
Dragonmen were humanoid beings with the ability to use special magic of "Dragonification" to transform into dragons that boasted immense strength and defensive ability due to their sturdy scales (a dragonman's clothes are stored inside their scales after they transform).[1] It is speculated by Hajime that the special ability of "Dragonification" was imbued into the dragonmen with the use of "Metamorphosis Magic", though it is unknown how it got inherited.
The color of a dragonmen's scales and breath in their dragon form matches their hair color in their human form.
Aside from from the ability to transform, dragonmen are nearly identical in appearance to humans, with the only differences of having slightly elongated ears with pointed tips and their nails being longer and pointy with a darker color. They have a very long lifespan; Tio, despite being 500 years old, still has the appearance of a young woman.
As with every other race in Tortus, dragonmen were originally humans that were magically altered by Ehit, in an attempt to create an everlasting body for his soul to reside in.
Society[]
Dragonmen sought to be the guardians of Tortus and establish a nation that promoted harmony and cooperation among all the races of Tortus. Initially, they were considered foolish idealists by most beings, but when the eventually succeeded, they were revered as the world's protectors. Though the dragonmen lived in peace with other races for centuries, that changed when Tortus' self-styled god Ehit orchestrated a war against the dragonmen that led to the deaths of most of its people. Fortunately, a secret village was prepared beforehand to which the surviving dragonmen fled to and had lived in seclusion for 500 years. Since then, the dragonmen have sworn to defeat Ehit and free Tortus from his manipulation.
The dragonmen were ruled by the Klarus family, and were also the ones who orchestrated the survivors escape from Ehit's followers during the war against their people.
Powers & Abilities []

As the legendary race of the sky, dragonmen possess a variety of abilities which make them a feared race across Tortus. The dragonmen were said to be one of the strongest races on Tortus, rivalled only by the vampires in power. dragonmen boasted overwhelming physical power and immense defensive capabilities due to their scales which allowed them to resist many attacks that would otherwise leave lethal injuries on other races. While in their dragon form. their were incredibly fast while flying (particularly those with a high affinity for wind magic).
Dragonmen have the ability to control their own mana, just like like monsters, and can use one or more elemental magics that they specialize in according to their dragon type. Each dragonman is born with an inherent affinity to that element, which they can unleash in their dragon form as a breath attack. Even in their human form, they are capable of adeptly using them with great proficiency.

- The dragonmen serving as one of Ehit's enemies is based on real-world stories from the bible, where dragons have appeared various times, and are depicted as enemies of God.
- Although dragonmen are capable of manipulating mana, they are not Atavists due to them originally being humans that were magically infused with monster flesh.
- In chapter 44 of Arifureta: I Heart Isekai, Tio references a female dragonman named "Bahamuette". This name is based on Bahamut, who is a draconic deity from the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. It is currently unknown if this dragonman exists in canon.
