Davros (ダヴァロス, Davuarosu?) was a commander for the demons who was in charge of conquering the Great Labyrinth in the Sea of Trees, but was killed by the Haulia Tribe.

Appearance[]

Davros was an older man with many wrinkles. As with all demons, he had swarthy red skin and pointed ear.

Personality[]

Darvos was an arrogant, religious fanatic. He strongly believed the demons were the strongest race on Tortus and looked down on all other races, especially beastmen. He admitted he was proud to be the one tasked with destroying Verbergen and all its people after finding their labyrinth.

As someone who believed himself to be a superior being, Davros did not condone the use of underhanded tactic in battle. He especially disapproved of the Haulia Tribe's guerrilla tactics while engaging them in battle.

Chronology[]

Darvos was tasked by Freid Bagwa with locating the Great Labyrinth that resided in the Sea of Trees. He led a squad of elite demon soldiers, as well as a detachment of monsters that were provided to him by Freid. After two months of traveling, Darvos and his forces reached the Sea of Trees. In order to avoid detection from the beastmen that resided in the forest, Darvos' forces travelled though the south edge of Reisen Gorge's east end, and entered the forest from the southern side, due to it being under the demons' control. While venturing in the forest, Davros received reports with regards to how his comrades that were assigned to other missions in their war against humanity had failed, much to his shock. He was especially surprised to learn that Freid had been forced to retreat after having been injured in battle with a powerful opponent in the Gruen Volcano. To keep morale from falling among his soldiers, Davros instructed the messenger to only inform his lieutenants of this report. Davros' adjutant Celeka asked him if the reports were true, but Davros berated him for questioning the voracity of this news, as well as disrespecting the soldiers that risked their lives to deliver it to them, and claimed that it meant that the humans had a powerful ally that they did not anticipate.

As the demons reached the beastmen's territory within the Sea of Tree, Darvos was determined to succeed in his mission and lead his forces to attack the beastman settlements. He had the monsters under his command attack the beastmen, while he and his soldiers waited at the rear. They managed to wipe out many settlements, and eventually reached the capital of the beastman nation Verbergen. As Davros' monsters were on the verge of destroying Verbergen, its chief elder Ulfric Heipyst offered to lead Davros to the labyrinth in exchange for ending the hostilities against the beastmen. Davros, however, rebuked Ullfric's offer and explained the he wanted to kill every beastman with his monsters from the beginning, and was preparing to kill Ulfric with his magic. Ulfric attempted to kill Davros by shooting an arrow at his heart, but it was knocked down by a wall of wind by one of Darvros' soldiers. As Davros finished chanting his spell, clods of earth rose up from the ground and coalesced into boulders that were engulfed in flames and burst apart into chunks of lava that destroyed Verbergen's gates. As Ulfric was dumbfounded by Davros' powerful magic, the demon boasted of his race's superiority over all beastmen, and expressed his joy in having to kill all of them. Ulfric attempted to kill Davros once more with a barrage of arrows, but he managed to dodge them. Enraged at having to dodge the beastman's attack, Davros unleashed a barrage of fireballs at Ulfric in retaliation. The attack shook the ground near Ulfric and sent him flying back. The other beastmen tried to rally by their leader, but were met with resistance from Davros' soldiers. Despite his desire to kill them, Davros planned to keep them alive long enough for them to lead him to the labyrinth. He was about impale Ulfric with a flaming spear as his forces were on the verge of victory, but stopped when suddenly received a report that some of his units had been wiped out by a mysterious enemy. Davros angrily ordered the messenger to recall the rest of his forces. He then accused Ulfric of using a secret unit of elite beastman soldiers to kill his allies, but Ulfric was just as surprised by this news. Before he could reply, however, Ulfric and everyone else turned the attention to the sudden arrival of the rabbitman Cam Haulia, as he stood on top of Verbergen's charred gates. Cam glared menacingly at Davros as he tossed the severed head of a demon, then retreated into the Sea of Trees' mist. Consumed with rage, Davros turned his attention away from Ulfric and ordered Celeka to have their forces hunt down the rabbitmen tribe that were responsible for killing his subordinates.

Davros managed to regroup with what remained of his forces as he marched through the fog-covered forest to kill the rabbitmen. As he was expressing his desire to kill them for his honor, a strange shadow was caught in everyone's vision. Celeka ordered some of their flying monsters called Squiers to attack it, but they were quickly decapitated. Davros and the other demons were shocked by what they just witnessed. Before they could react, however, another shadow appeared, which prompted more flying monsters to attack it before they were killed as well. They quickly discovered that the trees near them had been laced with wires that killed the monsters. Celeka then dispatched some armored beetle monsters called Drygers to topple the trees and remove the wires, but that triggered another trap that fired a series of crossbow arrows at the monsters, and caused them to fall into a flaming pit. Davros and the other demons then got into a circle formation and began chanting wide-area magic spells, while having some butterfly monsters called Cyuverias buy them time by firing blindly with their heat rays. However, their heat rays set off another trap in which a giant tree pendulum killed a number of monsters and one of the demons. Davros and his three surviving demons unleashed a massive wind storm that destroyed all the traps, as well as all the trees in the area. However, the rabbitmen managed to shelter themselves from the storm by hiding in some trenches. They then unleashed a barrage of arrows, followed by flour that acted as a makeshift camouflage. Davros and the other demons managed to block the attacks with a magical barrier, but were temporarily blinded by the flour. The remaining monsters were ordered attack the rabbitmen, but they could not sense their presence. Davros then spotted some nearby movement on the ground and tried to rally his forces, but the rabbitmen managed to eliminate most of their remaining monsters. At Celeka's request, Davros ordered his forces to retreat back to Verbergen to avoid anymore casualties, much to his anger. As they were making their way back, the rabbitmen managed to eliminate Davros' subordinates one at a time with different traps, until only he and Celeka remained. The two of them attempted to cast magic against a rabbitgirl that killed one of the demons, but their mounts were also caught in a trap that forced the two of them off. Davros managed to landed unscathed, but Celeka became injured after landing in a field of caltrops. As the last of his monsters were wiped out, Davros plotted to take one of Verbergen's elders as a hostage in an attempt to gain the upper hand. However, Cam explained from a distance that his tribe didn't care what became of the elders. Davros was surprised by this revelation, but was still determined to fight the rabbitman. It was at the moment, however, when he saw that Celeka was dying due to poison that was laced in the spikes that he previously landed on. Davros then asked Cam if he and the others were truly rabbitmen due to their ruthless fighting. In response, Cam boasted about how both rabbitmen and his boss were the strongest of all beings. Cam then asked Davros if he was interested in a duel, to which he accepted in the hopes of being able to take the rabbitman as a hostage. As the two of them were staring each other down, Davros attacked Cam with wind magic, but Cam managed to dodge it and retreated into the fog. Davros was then hit by barrage of arrows that pierced his legs. Once he was immobilized, Davros was hit with a small bag that was filled with ground pepper seeds that penetrated Davros' lungs, thus preventing him from chanting his magic. Despite his injuries, Davros managed to dodge an incoming attack from behind him, but it was a distraction that allowed another rabbitman to stab him in the back. The blade from the attack managed to reach through his chest. Davros accused Cam of lying with regards to wanting to duel him, to which Cam claimed that he never actually challenged him. Darvos cursed at Cam once more before the rabbitman unsheathed his second short sword and decapitated him.

We are the chosen people, and it is we demons who will usher in a new era of prosperity and splendor. It baffles me that you lesser creatures can’t even understand such a simple concept."[1]
  • (His last words to Cam): "You, craven cur."[1]
