Ayako Tsuji (辻（つじ）綾（あや）子（こ）, Tsuji Ayako^?) is one of the students from Japan who got involved in the Summoning Incident, and ended up in Tortus along with her other classmates. She is a member of Jugo Nagayama's party during the training in Great Orcus Labyrinth.

Appearance

Ayako is a young woman with shoulder-length light-brown hair and brown eyes. She has a large forehead that is exposed by a hair clip that she usually wears over her bangs.

Personality

Ayako hates not being as useful as Kaori Shirasaki or Suzu Taniguchi for supportive magic; especially Kaori due to the fact that they share the same job thus she feels that Kaori is working hard to make up for Ayako's lack of skill.

Chronology

One day during her second year of high school, Ayako and her entire class was summoned to Tortus by its god Ehit in order to help humanity's war against the demons. She and her classmates trained in the Heiligh Kingdom for two weeks, under the supervision of Knight Commander Meld Loggins, before they traveled to the Great Orcus Labyrinth, in order to fight the monsters that dwelled inside it until they were strong enough to fight the demons. During their first trip the the Labyrinth, they were all transported to the 65th floor due to a trap that was accidentally set off by Daisuke Hiyama. It was there that they were all surrounded by an army of skeletal Traum Soldiers on one side, and a Behemoth on the other. After a fierce battle, almost everyone managed to escape, but Ayako's classmate Hajime Nagumo was believed to have been killed when he fell off the bridge the Behemoth stood on, after he helped keep it at bay in order for the rest of his class to escape. This ordeal had severely effected the remaining students' morale, but Ayako was among those who resumed their training in the Great Orcus Labyrinth.

Kentarou Nomura

The two of them have feelings for each other, but they are both too shy to openly acknowledge them as it took them returning to Earth to even call each other by their first names. After they graduated high school, the two of them live would live together at the home of Kentarou's grandparents while attending the same university.

A member of her party and her best friend who often teases her about her crush on Kentarou.

Kousuke Endou

A member of her party whom she is good friends with, but she often gets upset with herself when she forgets about him such as when he was injured and waiting for her to heal him.

Hajime Nagumo

It is unknown how she felt for him, Ayako (like everyone else) is afraid of Hajime for his demonic strength and killing intent when she witnessed him murdering Cattleya. Like most of her classmates, Ayako took Hajime's warning very seriously as she didn’t want to incur Hajime's wrath which is intensified when he murdered Daisuke Hiyama for his betrayal.

Magical Abilities

• Immense Mana - As one of Ehit's summoned heroes, Ayako has more mana than most people in Tortus.
• Magic Master - As one of Ehit's summoned heroes, Ayako is highly skilled at magic. Although her healing abilities are inferior to Kaori's, she is still very capable at her role.

Skills

• Recovery Magic Affinity (回復魔法, Kaifuku Mahō^?) - It allows the user to use healing magic at a capable rate.
• Light Magic Affinity (光属性適性, Hikari Zokusei Tekisei^?) - It allows the user to use light magic at a capable rate.
• Language Comprehension (言語理解, Gengo Rikai^?) - A base skill granted to all those who got summoned. It gives the user the ability to understand any language and be proficient in it.

Spells/Attacks

Recovery Magic

• Aetherflow (聖典, Seiten^?) - The highest-ranked recovery magic spell. A super wide-ranged spell with effect of healing everyone inside its area. The range itself depends on the amount of the caster's mana and proficiency, but at its worst, its effective range is 500 meters in radius. Moreover, if the caster gives the "sign" beforehand, it will be able to heal a specific target. Normally this magic is used with tens of magicians, and takes a lot of time to chant along with its gigantic magic array. To be able to activate it in only one, two minutes alone is impossible unless one is a cheat-like character.

Barrier Magic

• Holy Wall (聖壁, Seikabe^?) - An intermediate-rank barrier magic spell that deploys a barrier to protect from all direction.
• Hallowed Ground (聖絶, Seizetsu^?) - The strongest barrier magic spell. It creates an impenetrable barrier that can't be broken by normal means, but does have some limitations. It separates a particular area from other areas and not people from people, so enemies within the AOE would not be pushed away. It also consumes a lot of mana and can only be used for a minute. "Reject all malice and let this be a holy ground that denies thine enemies passage— Hallowed Ground!"

Weapons & Equipment

• Metal Wand - An artifact made by Hajime Nagumo for the final battle against Ehit. It boosts her affinity to barrier magic and healing magic.
• CheatMate (チートメイト, Chītomeito^?) - A food-type artifact comprised of nutritional minerals, such as calcium and iron, that are enchanted with metamorphosis and evolution magic. They are then turned into powder and transmuted to became a solid food block. Once consumed, it raises a person's base stats and increases their body's sturdiness.
• Last Seele (ラスト・ゼーレ, Rasuto Zēre^?) - A necklace artifact with a small crimson red gem orb that Hajime made for everyone who participated in Ragnarok. It bestows its wearer the skill "Limit Break," as well as its derivative skill "Overload."

Etymology

• The name "Ayako" means "design" (綾, aya^?) and "child" (子, ko^?).
• Ayako's surname "Tsuji" means "street, crossroad" (辻).

Trivia

• In the Anime, Ayako is not among the students that trains in the Great Orcus Labyrinth. Instead, she and a few other students stay behind in the Heiligh Kingdom's capital as a support team.
• Ayako's goal is to become a veterinarian.
