Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest (ありふれた職業で世界最強, Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō?) is a Japanese series written by Ryo Shirakome. Originally a web novel, it has been adapted into light novel, manga, and anime series.

Plot[]

Seventeen-year-old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! They're treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction. But what should have been any otaku's wet dream quickly turns into Hajime's nightmare. While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime's job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith's level of strength?

Web Novel[]

Ryo Shirakome's original Web Novel, which was posted on the user-submitted content site "Shōsetsuka ni Narō (小説家になろう, Let's Become a Novelist)". The main story ran for eight arcs starting from November 7, 2013 to October 31, 2015.

This has been followed by a sequel series named "After Stories" starting from November 9, 2015, which is still ongoing and covers the life of the main characters post the events of the Main Series.

Light Novel[]

The Web Novel later got first adapted into a Light Novel series by Overlap Bunko, Inc. The illustrations was done by "Takaya-Ki", and had been published into 13 volumes from June 25, 2015 to September 25, 2022.

The adaptation haD been licensed for English localization by "J-Novel Club" for digital release since May 2017, with "Seven Seas Entertainment" publishing them in print since February 2018.

Manga[]

A Manga adaptation by "RoGa" based on the character designs by "Takaya-ki", it been published on Overlap's Comic Gardo website on a monthly basis since its inception on December 22, 2016, and its first volume was published three days later on December 25, 2016 to coincide with the release of the 5th Light Novel. As of November 5, 2021, each chapter would be released in two segments on a bi-weekly basis.

The adaptation has been licensed for English localization by "Seven Seas Entertainment" for both digital and print release since March 2018.

Anime[]

An Anime adaptation of the Main Series, directed by "Kinji Yoshimoto" with character designs by "Chika Kojima", with animation by "White Fox" and "Asread" studios, and aired from July 8 to October 7, 2019. The series was composed by "Ryo Takahashi", with the opening theme song "FLARE" performed by "Void_Chords feat. LIO" and the ending theme song "Hajime no Uta (ハジメノウタ, Hajime's Song?)" by "DracoVirgo".

First announced on December 2017, it was originally scheduled to start in April 2018, but its release was pushed back to 2019 due to unknown reasons. It was initially supposed to be directed by "Jun Kamiya" and written by "Kazuyuki Fudeyasu", with character designs by "Atsuo Tobe", who also would have served as chief animation director, and animation was only going to be handled by "White Fox". But following the postponement, it was announced that both "Kazuyuki Fudeyasu" and "Atsuo Tobe" would be stepping down, and their work would be taken over by "Kinji Yoshimoto" and "Chika Kojima", with "Asread" studio joining in.

A second season was announced after the last episode aired on October 7, 2019. It aired from January 13 to March 31, 2022, followed by an OVA on April 7, 2022, with the opening theme song "Daylight" by MindaRyn and the ending theme song "Gedou Sanka (外道讃歌, Heretical Hymn?)" by FantasticYouth Akira Iwanaga replaced Kinji Yoshimoto as the director for this season.

A third season was announced on September 10, 2022.

The adaptation had been licensed for English Simulcast and SimulDub by Funimation and Crunchyroll.
