The original "Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō" (ありふれた職業で世界最強, Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest?) web novel written by Ryo Shirakome, a.k.a "Chuuni Lover" (厨二好き, Chūni Suki?), is available on "Shōsetsuka ni Narō".

Overview[]

The series is divided into two parts:

  • The "Main Story" deals with the journey of the protagonist Hajime Nagumo through another world, and the challenges that he faces. This "Main Story" has been adapted into a light novel, manga and anime series.
    It is 179 chapters long, and was completed on October 31, 2015.
  • The "After Story", a sequel to the Main Story, is a collection of random stories/arcs focusing on the lives of the characters after the end of their adventures in the "Main Story".
    This series is on-going, with the author posting on average one chapter per week on Saturday at 6:00 pm JST.

  • Instead of Shizuku, Kouki is the one who expresses his discomfort at watching receiving so much attention from his girlfriends while they are relaxing in the kotatsu in the Web Novel.
  • Shizuku's backstory is further explored during the fight with her doppelgänger in the Light Novel (particularly her relationship with Kaori during their time in elementary school).

  • The magical principles of Hajime's spirit cannon artifact "Grentzen" are different in the Web Novel, whereas instead of the bullets being created using spirit magic and evolution magic, the weapon utilizes "Mana Manipulation", "Mana Emission", "Mana Compression", "Remote Manipulation", "Mana Absorption", and "High Speed Mana Recovery". Afterwords, gravity magic is used to compress the mana further.
  • Yue demonstrating metamorphosis magic by changing her hair and eye color to match Shea's does not occur in the Web Novel.
  • The extra chapter is not in the Web Novel (however, it is referenced later in the After Story).[3]
