Synopsis[]

THE FINAL SHOWDOWN BEGINS

At last, Hajime has conquered all seven labyrinths and found a way home. But a massive army of apostles awaits him outside the Frost Caverns–led by Fried, supreme commander of the demon army. Fried has an invitation for Hajime, one he can’t refuse: come to the Demon Lord’s castle, or lose his old classmates…and Myu. Left with no choice, Hajime surrenders. Little does he know, terrible secrets await him in the heart of the demon empire, and the revelation of Ehit’s true plan may destroy him once and for all.

At long last, Hajime has conquered all seven labyrinths and crafted a way home for himself. But as he and his friends leave the Frost Caverns, they find a massive army of apostles waiting for them. Leading the pack is Freid, and he's come to invite them to the Demon Lord's castle. Though Hajime is reluctant, Freid has taken his old classmates, as well as Myu, hostage. Left with no choice, he follows Freid to the seat of the demon empire's power. What new secrets will be waiting for him there, and will he able to survive the final game Ehit has prepared for him?

  • Several characters' names are spelled differently than in previous volumes they appeared in:
    • Balse as "Barus"
    • Aroyce as "Arios"
    • Kartos as "Cartos"
  • Yoshiki and Shinji's jobs as "Aeromancer" and "Pyromancer" respectively were swapped.
  • Ehit being responsible for turning the western region of Tortus into the Gruen Desert was first revealed in the Blu-ray Short Story "Eternal Artifact".
  • Hajime's "Skyboard" artifact is based off of the Liftboards from Eureka Seven.
  • Hajime originally wanted to name his "Hour Crystal" artifact "The Hyperbolic Time Chamber". This name is based on a location from Dragon Ball, that has a similar function.
  • In the bonus short story "Assemble for the Final Battle!," Hajime learns that Helina is a combat maid or the first time. However, this would later be reconned in he 2nd Season Blu-ray Short Story "Remnants of Myth and the Maiden of the Lake", in which he discovers Helina's combat abilities while fighting a golem that had stolen a part of her soul.
  • Myu befriending both Devourer and Lehman is first revealed in the Japanese-exclusive "Afterword of Afterword" short stories of Volumes 5 & 6 respectively.
