Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest (ありふれた職業で世界最強, Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō?) is a series written by Ryo Shirakome. Originally a Web Novel, it has been adapted to a Light Novel, Manga and Anime series.

The story revolves around a boy Hajime Nagumo who is an average Otaku boy, and his story and journey in another world.

The story of the Main Series revolves around the journey of young High-Schooler named Hajime Nagumo from Japan, who along with his classmates gets summoned to a different world, and the series of events that takes place there.

This story which was originally a Web Novel, has been since adapted to Light Novel, Manga, 4-Koma, Audio Drama and Anime as well.

Plot Edit

Seventeen year old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! They're treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction. But what should have been any otaku's wet dream quickly turns into Hajime's nightmare. While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime's job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith's level of strength?

Arifureta Zero Edit

A spin-off adaptation of the Main Series, Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest Zero (ありふれた職業で世界最強 零, Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō Zero?) or "Arifureta Zero" covers the story of the lives of the Seven Liberators and takes place in the past over 2000+ years before the events of the Main Series.

This story is an original Light Novel, which later also received a Manga adaptation.

Web Novel Edit

Ryo Shirakome's original Web Novel, which was posted on the user-submitted content site "Shōsetsuka ni Narō (小説家になろう, Let's Become a Novelist)". The main story ran for eight arcs starting from November 7, 2013 to October 31, 2015.

This has been followed by a sequel series named "After Stories" starting from November 9, 2015, which is still ongoing and covers the life of the main characters post the events of the Main Series.

Light Novel Edit

The Web Novel later got first adapted into the Light Novel format, and been published since 2015 by Overlap Bunko, Inc. The illustration for the Light Novel is being done by "Takaya-Ki". Until now there have been 10 volumes released so far as of 25th June, 2019.

The adaptation has been licensed for English localization by "J-Novel Club" for digital release since May 2017, with "Seven Seas Entertainment" publishing them in print since February 2018.

An original Light Novel spin-off series by "Ryo Shirakome", Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest Zero (ありふれた職業で世界最強 零, Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō Zero?) or "Arifureta Zero", began publication on December 2017 under Overlap Bunko, Inc.

The adaptation has been licensed for English localization by "J-Novel Club" for digital release since April 2018, with "Seven Seas Entertainment" publishing them in print since February 2019.

Manga Edit

A Manga adaptation by "RoGa" based on the character designs by "Takaya-ki", it been published on Overlap's Comic Gardo website on a monthly basis since its inception on December 22, 2016, and its first volume was published three days later on December 25, 2016 to coincide with the release of the 5th Light Novel.

The adaptation has been licensed for English localization by "Seven Seas Entertainment" for both digital and print release since March 2018.

A yonkoma comedy spin-off of the Main Series by "Misaki Mori", Arifureta: I Love Isekai (ありふれた日常で世界最強, Arifureta Nichijō de Sekai Saikyō?) began serialization on Overlap's Comic Gardo website on July, 2017.

The adaptation has been licensed for English localization by "Seven Seas Entertainment" for both digital and print release and the first volume is scheduled to be released on December 2019.

Based on the Light Novel spin-off, this Manga adaptation by "Ataru Kamichi", follows the prequel story of "Arifureta Zero", and began serialization on Overlap's Comic Gardo website on a monthly basis since February 2018.

The series has been licensed for English localization by Seven Seas Entertainment, for both digital and print release and the first volume is scheduled to be released on September 2019.

Anime Edit

An Anime adaptation of the Main Series, directed by "Kinji Yoshimoto" with character designs by "Chika Kojima", with animation by "White Fox" and "Asread" studios, and started airing since July 8, 2019. The series is being composed by "Ryo Takahashi", with the Opening Theme song "FLARE" being done by "Void_Chords feat. LIO" and the Ending Theme song "Hajime no Uta (ハジメノウタ, First Song)" being done by "DracoVirgo".

The adaptation has been licensed for English Simulcast and SimulDub by "Funimation".

Originally scheduled to start in April 2018, but it's release was pushed back to 2019 due to unknown reasons. It was initially supposed to be directed by "Jun Kamiya" and written by "Kazuyuki Fudeyasu", with character designs by "Atsuo Tobe" who also would have served as chief animation director, and animation was only going to be handled by "White Fox". But following the postponement, it was announced that both "Kazuyuki Fudeyasu" and "Atsuo Tobe" would be stepping down, and their work would be taken over by "Kinji Yoshimoto" and "Chika Kojima", with "Asread" studio joining in.
