Adel Lackman (アデル・ラックマン, Aderu Rakkuman?) was a Baron in the Grandort Empire, but was secretly also the Dustool branch chief of the anti-church organization, the Liberators.

Appearance[]

Adel was an older man. He had black hair that was speckled with white, and he was never seen without his thick, blast-proof goggles.

Personality[]

Adel was very obsessed with his research. It was to a point that he disregarded everything else, and didn't pay attention to other people when they spoke up. He even ignored obligations as a noble. As a result, his territory had been confiscated by the empire. Furthermore, due to the dangerous nature of his research, he would often blow up some part of his research lab at least once a week.

Like the rest of the Liberators, Adel despised the Holy Church and their god Ehit. He considered their machinations a severe detriment towards the advancement of society.

Background[]

When the nobility within the Grandort Empire was being investigated for possible collusion with anti-church rebels, following the death of the Reisen family at the hands of its heir Miledi, Adel managed to avoid suspicion due to his dangerously eccentric personality.

Powers & Abilities[]

  • Genius Intellect - Adel was a brilliant reserarcher. Despite his anti-social behavior, many scholars in the Grandort Empire would often approach Adel for his knowledge. His family's research focused on replicating the effects of Ancient Magic with ordinary elemental magic, and they had pioneered many different fusion spells as a result.

Quotes[]

  • (After finishing his experiment): "Hya ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! At long last, I’ve done it! This is the dawn of a new eraaaaaaaaaaaa! Gah hah hah hah hah hah hah hah!"[1]
  • (To the Schnee Clan): "Agh, what are you slowpokes doing?! Schnee kids, get out here!"[1]
  • (To Badd): "Don’t rush me! Magic’s more delicate than you fools will ever understand!"[2]

Trivia[]

  • The name Adel derives from Old High German name "Adalhaid / Adalhaidis," composed of two elements: "*aþalaz" (noble, nobleman, aristocratic, eminent, glorious, excellent one) plus "*haiduz" (kind, sort, appearance, personality, character, manner, path). In turn, the name means "noble kind, of the noble sort." Some forms represents the pet form of names ending in "-heid" (often Adelheid) or beginning with "Heid- / Heide-."[3]
